More restaurants closed in the Bradenton area in 2021. Here’s the list.
With all the problems caused by the global pandemic, there may have never been a tougher time for restaurants to be in business.
During 2021, the Bradenton area said farewell to a number of eateries, among them:
▪ Brancato’s Brick Oven Pizza, 5227 Manatee Ave. W., announced in February on its Facebook page that it had permanently closed due to COVID and a recent medical issue.
▪ After 17 years of serving specialty coffees, pastries and sandwiches, The B’Towne Coffee Co., 440 12th St. W., also known as Old Main Street, closed its doors for good on Aug. 28.
▪ In March, three McDonald’s restaurants in Bradenton-area Walmart superstores closed: 6225 S.R. 64 E., 5315 Cortez Road West, and 2911 53rd Ave. E. Restaurants in stand-along locations with drive-thrus have fared better during the pandemic than those in Walmarts and malls.
▪ The Ruby Tuesday chain, which once had three restaurants in the Bradenton-Sarasota area, now has one. The restaurant at 8306 Tourist Center Drive closed in early 2021.
▪ Atypical Kitchen, 2539 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., specializing in take-out and delivery, opened in 2020 and closed in 2021.
▪ Mr. Bones BBQ, 3007 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach, an Anna Maria Island favorite since 1991, closed in November. “Our hearts are truly warmed from the over 30,000 responses of our permanent closing announcement. Many people wanted something to remember us by and we quickly sold out of sauces T-shirts, and pint glasses,” Mr. Bones announced on its Facebook page.
