A Miami restaurant with ‘extraordinary pizzas’ is coming to Manatee County

An artisan pizzeria with Florida roots is coming to a bustling area of Manatee County.

Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza has signed a lease for the Marketplace at Heritage Harbour plaza off State Road 64 near Interstate 75, according to the shopping center’s leasing plan. The new restaurant will be in a 2,381-square-foot building near Hobby Lobby, the leasing plan shows.

Costco anchors the Marketplace at Heritage Harbour plaza, which is also home to Target, which opened in August.

Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza began in Miami. The restaurant’s name stems from the United States government’s O-1 visa designation, the Miami Herald previously reported. The visa designation is for “individuals with extraordinary ability or achievement.”

The Miami Herald reported chef Renato Viola, who founded the restaurant, became an O-1 visa candidate by showing “extraordinary ability by sustained national or international acclaim,” according to the United States Department of Homeland Security.

‘Extraordinary’ pies coming to Bradenton

Mister O1 features pizzas with dough usually fermented for 72 to 96 hours. The extraordinary pizzas, though, are star-shaped in addition to the fermented dough.

They are 13-inch pies “with a pouch of ricotta cheese in each of the eight points,” the Miami Herald previously reported.

Mister O1 also serves calzones, 8-inch pizzas, desserts, salads and has an antipasto and burrata bar.

An opening date has not been announced yet.

The shopping plaza from Piscataway, New Jersey developer Edgewood Properties, is also planning a Whole Foods, Chick-fil-A and Seasons 52 to go with the current restaurants and stores open such as LongHorn Steakhouse, Miller’s Ale House and Academy Sports and Outdoors.

Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza has locations in Texas, Georgia and other areas of Florida, but it will be its first in Manatee County. The restaurant also has a pizza school in Miami and Dallas, where students learn how to make pizzas.
