The Ninth Annual Florida Improv Festival begins Thursday at Florida Studio Theatre. Among the highlights are “BLANK!” the improvised musical that was an Off-Broadway hit, an improvised puppet show and a Mexican Improv group that will perform one show in Spanish and one in English.
The MTV reality show premieres Monday, July 31. The show centers around a group of young adults from the Sarasota area, most of whom have been friends for years — but none with any experience with celebrity.
Kevin Nealon is best known as a comic actor from his days on “Saturday Night Live” and “Weeds,” but he says he loves stand-up comedy more than anything else. He’ll perform at McCurdy’s Comedy Theatre in Sarasota this weekend.

The Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, the Ringling Museum in Sarasota and the Tampa Museum of Art are collaborating on an exhibition called “Skyway” that show work from dozens of Tampa Bay area artists.
Toby was supposed to be a minor character in one episode of TNT’s “Claws,” which is set in Palmetto. When Evan Daigle took the role, producers liked him so much they made Toby a regular who’ll soon become central to the story.
