Aldi plans new Manatee County grocery store in rapidly developing area
Aldi plans to build a new grocery store in a developing area of Manatee County.
According to paperwork filed with Manatee County Development Services, Aldi is planning a roughly 20,000-square-foot store at the corner of Sea Chase Avenue and Moccasin Wallow Road in Parrish.
The grocery store is part of a new commercial development connected to the Seaire community about 1.5 miles east of Interstate 75, on the south side of Moccasin Wallow Road.
Seaire is a nearly 3,200-home neighborhood with a 4.5-acre man-made lagoon from Tampa-based developer Metro Development Group, the Bradenton Herald previously reported.
When will new Parrish Aldi open?
According to building records, the Aldi location for Seaire won’t begin construction until August, and it has a one-year completion timeline.
The project will have more than 100 parking spaces when it is completed, according to building records.
What other businesses and restaurants are planned?
Developers have planned two commercial areas for Seaire.
Aldi is slated to go east of Carter Road, near the existing Wendy’s restaurant and Circle K gas station.
Texas Roadhouse and Chipotle are two other restaurants planned for the commercial space.
Where are Aldi’s other Manatee County locations?
Aldi, which is headquartered in Batavia, Illinois, has eight Manatee County locations, including one in Palmetto and one in Parrish.
The discount supermarket chain features and array of food products and home goods, including organic produce, select cheeses, wine and seasonal foods.
The most recent local Aldi opening was in December at 5805 Manatee Ave. W. in Bradenton’s Palma Sola Square shopping center.
That store was the company’s first Winn Dixie-to-Aldi converted grocery store in Manatee County.
The company previously announced plans to convert about 220 Winn-Dixie and Harvey Supermarket locations after it acquired their parent company Southeastern Grocers.
