An opening date for Manatee County’s latest grocery store has been revealed.

Located at 5805 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton, in the Palma Sola Square shopping center, Aldi is scheduled to open Thursday, Dec. 18, at 8:45 a.m. It’s the first Winn-Dixie-to-Aldi converted grocery store for the county.

Aldi is planning a giveaway to commemorate the new grocery store.

The first 100 customers will receive a gift bag filled with Aldi-exclusive products and a gift card. Shoppers can also enter a sweepstakes for a $500 Aldi gift card through opening weekend, a news release said.

“At our new Bradenton Aldi store, shoppers will find that every decision we make, from our product selection to store layout, is to provide our customers with the best products at the lowest possible prices of any national grocer,” Aldi regional vice president Matt Thon said in a news release. “Our customers can save up to 36% on an average household’s shopping list. As shoppers look for better ways to stretch their dollar, ALDI is providing Bradenton with easier access to quality groceries at affordable prices.”

The new store will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. It will feature organic produce, selections of cheese, wine and food that accommodates various dietary needs such as gluten-free and plant-based.

There is also curbside pickup and grocery delivery services.

The company is opening a new Aldi grocery store at 5400 Fruitville Road in Sarasota on Thursday, too.

Aldi, which is headquartered in Batavia, Illinois, announced in March 2024 it acquired Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket parent company Southeastern Grocers. However, the company said in February that it sold Southeastern Grocers after less than a year of ownership and would keep about 220 Winn-Dixie and Harvey Supermarket locations that would be converted into Aldi stores.

Aldi previously said it planned 800 stores nationwide through new openings or store conversions by the end of 2028.

The new Manatee Avenue location joins the following Aldi locations for the area:

  • 4525 53rd Ave. E., Bradenton
  • 4705 Cortez Road W., Bradenton
  • 5715 14th St. W., Bradenton

  • 605 10th St. E., Palmetto
  • 8810 U.S. 301 N., Parrish
  • 7214 University Parkway, Lakewood Ranch

Currently, there are four Winn-Dixie stores operating in Manatee County. They are located at:

  • 1010 53rd Ave. E., Bradenton
  • 5802 14th St. W., Bradenton
  • 7400 Cortez Road W., Bradenton
  • 515 Seventh St. W., Palmetto
