New Bradenton area businesses are opening and putting out the hiring signs
Detwiler’s Farm Market hasn’t announced the opening date of its first West Bradenton store — beyond some time this fall — but the opening is getting close.
How do we know?
Well, it’s fall.
And Detwiler’s will be holding a job fair at 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at its new store, 3500 53rd Ave. W.
Detwiler’s is looking to hire over 100 people to staff the new store as well as its other five locations and warehouses.
Applications will be available at the job fair. Applicants can also apply online through detwilermarket.com or Indeed.
The West Bradenton store will be the company’s second in Manatee County, following the Palmetto store at 1800 U.S. 301 N., which opened in 2019.
Detwiler’s, a family-owned-and-operated grocery chain, started out as a roadside produce stand in 2002. The company now has six brick-and-mortar stores between Palmetto and Venice.

Miller’s Ale House opens
Miller’s Ale House to Bradenton opened Nov. 13 at 7175 State Road 64 E., near the Bradenton Costco store at Heritage Harbour.
The 7,000-square-foot restaurant features Miller’s newest restaurant design with indoor and outdoor seating for more than 200 guests, over 60 TVs and a Florida Room with garage-style exterior walls that can be raised, weather-permitting.
“After hearing from our Raving Fans in the area, we are thrilled to bring Miller’s Ale House back to Bradenton,” Byron Chandler, Miller’s Ale House chief development officer, said in a news release.
“We look forward to showcasing our new restaurant design and introducing our scratch-made menu to those who haven’t dined with us before,” he said.
The Orlando-based company has more than 60 restaurants in Florida, plus locations in Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Virginia.

Creekside Commons, a Benderson Development Co. shopping center at 8800 U.S. 301, Parrish, is getting two more eateries.
▪ Osaka Sushi & Grill is planned for 8950 U.S. 301, unit 113, according to Facebook posts by the shopping center and Osaka Sushi.
“Get your chopsticks ready, Osaka Sushi & Grill is rolling in soon to Creekside Commons. Get ready for hibachi, a delicious variety of sushi rolls, and more. Stay tuned for grand opening details,” one of the posts says.
▪ Also coming to Creekside Commons is a Jersey Mike’s sub store, according to paperwork filed with Manatee County Development Services.
The planned store would be the fifth Jersey Mike’s in the Bradenton area. The brand has stores at 6737 Manatee Ave. W., 4020 14th St. W., 5820 Ranch Lake Blvd Unit 106B and 4306 State Road 64 E.
Also announced recently for Creekside Commons is an Outback Steakhouse.
Creekside Commons’ anchors include Lowe’s, HomeGoods and an Aldi grocery.
More job offerings
Manatee Technical College and CareerSource Suncoast are inviting job seekers and potential students to a career fair and open house at the MTC Main Campus, 6305 State Road 70 E., 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5.
Instructors and students will showcase their programs with hands-on demonstrations. Career counselors and financial aid officers will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.
Over 70 companies will be represented. Hiring managers will be present. Food trucks will be on campus selling food and drinks.
“This is an opportunity to see all the great things happening at MTC and meet employers from high-tech, in-demand local companies,” Doug Wagner, director of MTC, said in a press release.
