An Outback Steakhouse is coming to Parrish as 2 new restaurants planned in Manatee

You might call it an Outback outbreak.

In the last two months, paperwork has been filed with Manatee County Building Services for two Outback Steakhouses.

In July, it was for a restaurant at 12245 State Road 70 E., Lakewood Ranch.

This week, it was for a seat-down restaurant at 3390 Erie Road in the Creekside Commons shopping center, Parrish.

Residents of fast-growing Parrish have long asked for more amenities, including more sit-down restaurants.

In 2007, Ben Jordan, then president of the Parrish Civic Association, told the Bradenton Herald that restaurants were at the top of the list for what residents wanted and would use.

“There’s been a lot of interest up here in getting sit-down, full-service restaurants. Of all the things we haven’t been able to get going, it’s been that,” he said.

The filing with Manatee County indicates all site work would be coordinated under separate permit by the landlord, Benderson Development.

It’s been a long time since there has been so much Outback Steakhouse activity in Manatee County. The first Outback opened at 4402 Cortez Road W. in the late 1980s or early 1990s. In 2005, the second Bradenton Outback Steakhouse opened at 4510 State Road 64 E.

Outback Steakhouse is an Australian-themed restaurant chain with the motto “No rules. Just right,” and is part of the the Bloomin’ Brands company.

Sister companies include Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar and Aussie Grill by Outback.

Aldi recently opened a grocery in Creekside Commons, its sixth in Manatee County. Other anchors which have opened there include Lowe’s and HomeGoods.

Also planned at Creekside Commons are Good Liquid Brewing Company and a Marshall’s department store.

Benderson Development won approval for the 300,000-square-foot Creekside Commons project in 2008, but development was delayed by the economic slowdown caused by the Great Recession, and the need to find a new anchor after a planned Walmart was withdrawn.

The shopping center’s first anchor, Lowe’s, opened Dec. 30, 2022.
