Detwiler’s Farm Market is expanding, with plans for a new Bradenton location this year
The popular Detwiler’s Farm Market is coming to west Bradenton.
Detwiler’s signed a lease for 50,000-square-feet of anchor space in Marketplace West in the 3500 block of 53rd Avenue West, Benderson Development announced in a news release Tuesday.
Marketplace West will be renamed Detwiler’s Marketplace.
The planned store will be Detwiler’s second in Manatee County and the sixth overall, ranging from Palmetto in the north to Venice in the south.
The Palmetto store opened in a former Winn-Dixie space in 2019 at 1800 U.S. 301 N.
Family-owned Detwiler’s started as a roadside produce stand and now sells fresh produce, deli, bakery, seafood and meat products in brick-and-mortar stores.
“Life is not always easy,” company founder Henry Detwiler Sr. told the Bradenton Herald in 2019 on the 10th anniversary of the founding of the company.
At one time, Henry and Natalie Detwiler lived in a Myakka City mobile home with their nine children.
“We are excited for this new location and are looking forward to serving our customers in the west Bradenton area,” Detwiler said in a statement Tuesday.
“It’s another big store where we can give our customers our full farm market experience and have fun creating a unique farm atmosphere where you can do your grocery shopping. We hope to open this location sometime in the fall of 2023,” he said.
Detwiler’s will join Dollar Tree, Petland, Fresca Pizza and Pasta and Mountain Comforts Coffee Café in the west Bradenton shopping center.
