The latest on the COVID-19 pandemic in Bradenton and Manatee County.
More coronavirus infections reported in Manatee County
Manatee County has 28 new coronavirus infections, as the state reports fewer than 800 new cases.
There were a total of 738 new cases reported across the state by the Florida Department of Health on Monday, the fewest since early June. In total, there have been 701,302 infections since the pandemic hit.
Manatee County has had a total of 11,486 people test positive for the coronavirus.
The deaths of five residents in the state from COVID-19 were also reported on Monday. None of those deaths occurred in Manatee County.
In Manatee County, 291 residents have died from COVID-19. Statewide, there have been 14,037 residents and 170 non-residents die from the disease.
More than 1,000 people have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 while at school, Manatee district says
As of Monday afternoon, Manatee County School District had reported since of the start of the school year, Aug. 17, 78 COVID-19 cases among students and employees in the district, and1,006 instances of someone being exposed to one of the infected people.

FOOD PANTRIES IN MANATEE COUNTY
As COVID-19 has ravaged Manatee County and employers have shedded jobs, food security has become a bigger issue for many residents.
Manatee County government has released a list of food pantries in the county where residents can obtain free food and other assistance.
