Manatee has 28 new cases of coronavirus. State reports fewest cases since early June
Manatee County has 28 new coronavirus infections, as the state reports fewer than 800 new cases.
There were a total of 738 new cases reported across the state by the Florida Department of Health on Monday, the fewest since early June. In total, there have been 701,302 infections since the pandemic hit.
Manatee County has had a total of 11,486 people test positive for the coronavirus.
The deaths of five residents in the state from COVID-19 were also reported on Monday. None of those deaths occurred in Manatee County.
In Manatee County, 291 residents have died from COVID-19. Statewide, there have been 14,037 residents and 170 non-residents die from the disease.
Monday’s new cases were among 249 new tests results released by FDOH, with a 11.32% positivity rate.
According to the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration, there were 22 patients admitted to one of the county’s three general hospitals with COVID-19 as a primary reason for admission.
Surrounding counties:
- Sarasota County: Cases increased from 8,142 to 8,147. The official death toll remained at 254.
- DeSoto County: Cases increased from 1,563 to 1,565. The official death toll remained at 25.
- Hardee County: Cases increased from 1,358 to 1,361. The official death toll remained at 11.
- Hillsborough County: Cases increased from 41,826 to 41,947. The official death toll remained at 628.
- Pinellas County: Cases increased from 22,004 to 22,049. The official death toll remained at 744.
