Which Bradenton-area restaurants said goodbye in 2025? Here’s the list

While Manatee County’s restaurant scene saw tremendous growth with dozens of new restaurants opening their doors in 2025, it was also a goodbye for others.

The closures in 2025 include a restaurant that served the community for three decades and other popular lunch and dinner spots.

Here’s a look at the local restaurants that closed.

Gianni’s Pizza Express, 4927 96th St. E., Palmetto. The popular pizzeria ran out of food when it opened in 2024, but closed in October. It was located in a shopping plaza just south of Moccasin Wallow Road near Interstate 75. Jaxx Wing Co. recently opened in the space Gianni’s vacated. However, the Gianni’s brand isn’t completely shut down. The original location, Gianni’s Pizza & More, is open at 4925 E. State Road 64 in Bradenton.

Godson’s Pizzeria, 3306 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. Another local popular pizzeria closed its doors in October. The restaurant was born after Demetrios’ Pizza House owner Gus Sokos sold the restaurant to his godson, Phillip Chaltis.

After renaming it Godson’s Pizza House, the restaurant closed its location on Cortez Road West to relocate to Manatee Avenue, where it was renamed Godson’s Pizzeria. But after serving its popular hand-tossed pies, strombolis, calzones, pastas, sandwiches and more since the move in late 2024, the restaurant closed. Flavaz Slice & Spice opened in its vacated space in the West Avenue Shops plaza next to Trinity United Methodist Church.

Good Liquid Brewing Co., 1008 Fourth Ave. W., Bradenton. The locally-owned restaurant’s third location opened in March, but shuttered its doors in downtown Bradenton six months later. Owners Mike and Sandra Krail cited health complications as the reason for closing the restaurant that was renovated from a bank to serve food, beer and other alcoholic beverages.

Sandra Krail shared in a September statement that she has a rare, progressive kidney disease and needed a kidney transplant.

The company has two other locations open. They are in Waterside Place at 1570 Lakefront Drive, Sarasota, and in the Creekside Commons plaza at 8980 U.S. 301 N., #138, Parrish.

McGrath’s Kitchen & Cocktails, 8110 Lakewood Main St., Lakewood Ranch. The Irish-themed restaurant closed in May. The owners said on social media they were focusing on their other restaurant brand, Ed’s Tavern. That brand opened its third location, and first for Parrish, in the fall. Prior to its run as an Irish-themed restaurant, the space was home to Scottish-themed McAllister’s from 2006 to 2020 as one of Lakewood Ranch Main Street’s first businesses.

Raven Pizza, 8255 U.S. 301 North, Parrish. A staple in Parrish since 1995, Raven Pizza served its last slice in July. Owner Riccardo Ossola told the Bradenton Herald that Hurricane Milton “literally blew the roof off,” at Raven Pizza, which closed for 14 weeks for repairs heading into 2025. Following the lost revenue from the temporary shutdown, Raven Pizza couldn’t recover. Ossola made the choice to close the restaurant.

The Cherry Ice Cream and Coffee Shop, 8231 U.S. 301 North, Parrish. Nearby to Raven Pizza, the Cherry Ice Cream and Coffee Shop closed toward the end of 2025. But there is a coffee shop replacing it in the shopping plaza. Ryan’s Coffee House recently opened in the space.
