Fans of the popular Cincinnati-style chili, this one is for you: Manatee County soon will be getting a Skyline Chili restaurant.
The restaurant will be located in the Shoppes at Commerce Park, a 22,000-square-foot retail center that is under construction at 4112 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. Construction is expected to be complete by August.
Skyline Chili is best known for its chili cheese coneys and its “three-ways” — Cincinnati-style chili served over spaghetti and topped with shredded cheese. Add onions or beans for a “four-way,” or both for a “five-way.”
Cincinnati-style chili isn’t like Texas chili. Rather, it’s flavored with cinnamon, cloves, bay leaves and other spices.
There are six Skyline Chili restaurants in Florida, including two in Clearwater, with other locations in Fort Myers, Naples, Fort Lauderdale and Sunrise.
The anchor tenant for the Shoppes at Commerce Park will be Keller Williams Realty of Manatee, which said the project is 65 percent pre-leased. Other tenants will include X-30 Fitness, a nail salon and a pharmacy.
“Lakewood Ranch is a burgeoning community, as is Manatee County as a whole, ripe with new housing developments and strong economics,” said Rick Kerper, operating partner at KW Realty. “Couple the fact there is a limited supply of quality dirt to develop with a growing demand for retail service centers, we have received significant interest from quality tenants and anticipate a brisk lease up.”
