Wind and rain pummeled the Dominican Republic on Sept. 21, 2017 as Hurricane Maria passed over the island’s north coast, leaving more than 100,000 residents on the island country without power. The downgraded Category 3 storm was moving toward the Turks and Caicos Islands on September 22.
