The Sunshine Skyway Bridge closed Wednesday morning as Hurricane Milton barrels toward the Gulf Coast.

The Florida Highway Patrol blocks traffic on the bridge to drivers when winds are higher than 45 miles per hour. The bridge connects Manatee and Pinellas counties.

Troopers urged drivers to find alternate evacuation routes.
