SARASOTA -- Deputies seized nearly 34 grams of heroin and more than 552 grams of methamphetamine after arresting a man suspected of trafficking the narcotics, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
On Monday, detectives received information from a confidential source that the suspect, Tyrone Anderson, was hiding narcotics in the 1800 block of Sanford Circle in Sarasota, according to an arrest report. Using a previous booking photo, detectives were able to confirm Anderson's identify with the source.
Detectives also learned from their confidential source that Anderson would be arriving in maroon Chevrolet Equinox to pick up the drugs and that they would be in a duffle bag, the report states.
Surveillance of the home was conducted and detectives say they saw Anderson arrive. A short time later he was seen leaving and placing a duffel bag in the back seat behind the driver's seat.
Detectives approached Anderson and saw the duffle bag in the back seat. When the detectives searched the bag they found the nearly 34 grams of heroin, more than 552 grams of methamphetamine and more than $2,200 in cash.
Anderson is charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and trafficking in heroin. He is being held without bond at the Sarasota County jail.
Anderson has a history of drug arrests in Sarasota County and trafficking charges in Osceola County, according to the sheriff's office.
