Sarasota man charged with drug trafficking

SARASOTA — A Sarasota man was arrested at 1 p.m. Wednesday on drug-trafficking charges after a legal search of his home, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

Leonard Scott, 34, was arrested in the 4200 block of Groveland Avenue following multiple undercover drug buys there from Scott, according to the report.

Authorities seized more than 33 grams of rock cocaine, 50 Dilaudid pills, .3 gram of heroin and $1,287 in cash, according to the report.

Scott was charged with trafficking in cocaine and Hydromorphone, possession of heroin with intent to distribute and violation of probation because he is serving two years of Department of Corrections community supervision for cocaine possession, a sentence begun in March.

Scott reportedly has more than 30 prior arrests for violent crimes, drug and weapons charges, and more than a dozen arrests for violation of probation or contempt of court.
