Two suspects in fatal shooting of Bradenton man arrested in Michigan

Two suspects have been arrested in Michigan in connection to the 2019 fatal shooting of a Bradenton man.

At about 10 p.m. on Oct. 17, video surveillance captured at least one of the suspected killers driving up to Briles’ apartment in the 2400 block of 11th Street West in Bradenton, walking up to the front door of his apartment and waiting until the door opened. About a minute later, that suspect was seen running out.

Bradenton police officers responded moments after neighbors called 911 to report hearing gunshots. Briles was found dead inside.

In the weeks following his death, police released a copy of that video footage, but hadn’t received any information early on.

On Tuesday evening, police spokesman Capt. Brian Thiers confirmed that there were two suspects, Devante C. Kinsley and Tyler A. Sager, in custody in Bay City, Mich., in Briles’ death. Both suspects are expected to be extradited back to Manatee County to face charges.

“We concluded that Kinsley and Sager are the two individuals in the surveillance video and ultimately planned and committed this homicide,” Thiers said in a video announcing the arrests posted to the police department’s social media accounts.

But the portion of the video released to news outlets in October showed only one suspect.

Kinsley and Sager were arrested at their Bay City home by Bay City Department of Public Safety officers and Bradenton police detectives, according to Thiers.

Additional details, including the charges each suspect faces, were not provided by police. Information is still being sought in the case, however.

Anyone with information about the case can call Detective Jeff Beckley at 941-932-9356 or Detetective Andy Perez at 941-932-9322. To remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward, tips can also be submitted by contacting Manatee Crime Stoppers at 866-634-8477(TIPS).
