Fundraising campaigns launched for victims in fatal Bradenton shooting

Two GoFundMe fundraising campaigns have been created for the victims of a Bradenton medical office shooting, that left one person dead and another in critical condition.

The shooting, which killed 29-year-old Myshaela Burnham and injured Summer Freitag, 26, happened at a medical office in the 5200 block of Fourth Avenue Circle East in Bradenton.

The suspect, Keith Roberts Jr., 29, allegedly shot and killed Burnham, his ex-girlfriend, before turning the gun on Freitag, who witnessed the first shooting. Freitag was critically injured and transported to HCA Florida Blake Hospital, police said.

Roberts was taken into police custody shortly after the Thursday afternoon shooting, according to a news release. The Bradenton Police Department, with the help of the Palmetto Police Department and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, located Roberts’ car driving towards the DeSoto Bridge after 911 callers described the vehicle, officials say.

According to court records, Roberts has been charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder with a firearm. As of Tuesday morning, he is being held in the Manatee County Jail without bond.

One of the GoFundMe campaigns was created by Brianna Fischer, Burnham’s sister.

“In lieu of flowers, please consider donating,” Fischer wrote in the GoFundMe description. “This fund will be used for her son’s future endeavors.”

The Bradenton Police Department wrote in a social media post that officers applied three tourniquets to Freitag at the scene before EMS arrived.
