1 dead after fatal shooting at Bradenton medical complex, police say
The Bradenton Police Department is investigating a Thursday afternoon shooting that killed one person and injured another, the law enforcement agency said.
The shooting happened at a medical complex in the 5200 block of Fourth Avenue Circle East, near the Publix grocery store at the River Edge shopping center on State Road 64. As of 2:30 p.m., a potential suspect is in custody, police say.
When officers arrived at 12:48 p.m., they found that two women with gunshot wounds, according to the agency. One victim has been hospitalized, and the other died from their injuries, according to a social media post from the police department. Police did not share the names and ages of the victims.
The potential suspect was taken into police custody at 1:12 p.m., according to the updated post.
According to Meredith Censullo, the public information officer with the Bradenton Police Department, police were able to track down the potential suspect after eyewitnesses described the vehicle they saw at the scene of the crime.
Bradenton police, with the help of the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and the Palmetto Police Department, found and stopped the described vehicle near the Bradenton Convention Center.
Information about the suspected shooter was not immediately available Thursday afternoon.
The incident is still under investigation, and Manatee Homicide Investigation Unit and Crime Scene Investigators are on the scene, the post says.
