New taco restaurant and tequila bar opens in Bradenton-Sarasota’s UTC mall area
Starting next week, the Bradenton-Sarasota area will have a new destination for Taco Tuesday.
Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar opens Monday, March 6, at 243 N. Cattlemen Road in the West District at University Town Center. It’s sort of between Shake Shack, which opened in 2019, and Ford’s Garage, which opened in 2021, west of the big mall.
The new Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar is the 10th in Florida.
The 4,000-square-foot restaurant offers Mexican cuisine in a casual, energetic environment with upbeat music, a spirited happy hour, over 300 varieties of tequila. It also offers all-you-can drink brunch on the weekends.
“These are the next steps in building Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar into a nationwide brand,” Rocco Mangel, owner of Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar, said in a news release.
“I have built the restaurant with quality and care, and I look forward to continuing the journey in Sarasota. Success in new markets will be key to building further excitement and momentum, while gaining on our objective to open Rocco’s Tacos throughout the continental southeast,” Mangel said.
What you’ll see there
▪ An open-air dining room that fuses elements found on the urban streets of Mexico City, along with custom artwork on the buildings facade done by street artist Saner of Mexico City.
▪ The private dining space, inspired by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, includes a floating dried rose chandelier, textured patterns to replicate Frida’s fashionable dresses and elevated lacquered walls.
▪ An open-air bar to shake up Rocco’s Tacos margaritas and more.
Days and hours
Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar will be open seven days a week for lunch, dinner, happy hour and weekend brunch.
