52,900 of a toy sold at Target have been recalled. The problem can be ‘toxic’
Toy water guns shouldn’t have “toxic” potential if they’re loaded with only water. That’s why Hasbro recalled 52,900 Nerf Super Soaker XP 20 and Nerf Super Soaker XP 30 Water Blasters.
The exact problem, as stated in the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice: “The decorative sticker on the water tank of the water blaster toys contain levels of lead in the ink that exceed the federal lead content ban. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.”
Hasbro hasn’t heard of this happening, but initiated a recall on July 30 that was also announced by Target, the only retailer that sold the toy. The USCPSC notice didn’t go up until Wednesday.
This covers the Nerf Super Soaker XP20, a green and orange toy, model No. E6286, and the XP 30, an orange and blue toy, model No. 6289.
Hasbro is taking the financial hit on this, offering refunds.
