Known for its cult following, Wawa opened its seventh location in the Bradenton-Sarasota area on Friday, this one at 5208 University Parkway.

In keeping with the gas station and convenience store chain’s custom, free coffee will be given away at the new location for the first 10 days, through Dec. 17.

Once limited to the Mid-Atlantic region, Wawa has been aggressively expanding throughout Florida since opening its first Sunshine State location in July 2012 in Orlando.

Nearly 150 stores have opened in Florida during the past five years, and hundreds more are planned during the next decade.

For those not familiar with Wawa: Stores are open 24 hours a day and offer freshly made sandwiches, side dishes and drinks, including gourmet coffees, milkshakes and smoothies.
