Granola sold at Publix recalled after a potentially seriously harmful packaging mistake
The problem of improper packaging, which bedeviled the food industry throughout May and June, returned to cause KIND Healthy Snacks to recall some of its Oats & Honey Granola with Toasted Coconut pouches.
Publix posted KIND’s recall announcment on its website Wednesday.
KIND’s announcement said it is dumping sesame seeds from this variety of granola. But some old recipe Oats & Honey got put into new recipe pouches. Sesame seeds aren’t listed among the ingredients, though the package does say the granola “may contain” sesame seeds.
No problem for the vast majority of people. But, as the notice states, “People who have an allergy or sensitivity to sesame seeds should immediately discontinue use of this product.”
This recall covers 11-ounce and 17-ounce packages with a best by date between April 4, 2021 and June 1, 2021. KIND wants customers who have those food allergy problems to hold onto the packaging and email customerservice@kindsnacks.com. But you can also just return the granola to the store of purchase for a full refund.
