Ice cream sold at Publix, Walmart and other outlets nationwide gets recalled

One lot of Enlightened Dairy-Free Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream pints got recalled in the latest of several recent packaging screw ups that created dangerous situations for food allergy sufferers.

The ice cream inside those pints isn’t dairy-free. It has milk.

No problem for most people. But, as the FDA-posted recall notice states, “People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.”

The recalled pints were sold at Publix, Walmart and other stores nationwide. They can be identified by a best by date of “11/05/21” and a base container that says “Dairy-Free” but a top that doesn’t.
