Nationwide recall after testing found listeria in the stuffed shells

A recall of Five Cheese Stuffed Shells was announced Tuesday after the manufacturer said testing found listeria in the product.

Garland Ventures’ FDA-posted recall notice said the 1,095 cases of 10.76-ounce trays went to a “limited amount of retail stores” nationwide.

According to the CDC, listeria strikes about 1,600 Americans each year and kills about 260. Most people suffer headaches, stomachaches, diarrhea, nausea and stiffness. Senior citizens and children under 5 are most vulnerable to the worst effects. Pregnant women can suffer stillbirths and miscarriages.

Those who bought Five Cheese Stuffed Shells should return them to the store for a full refund. Anyone with questions can call Bob Cocat at 972-795-5313.
