Fatal crash closes Fruitville Road for several hours
Westbound lanes of Fruitville Road at Interstate 75 were closed for at least four hours after a semitrailer rolled over Thursday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The driver, who has not been named pending next of kin notification, died.
An FHP report said that around 4:38 a.m., a semitrailer was exiting Interstate 75 at mile marker 210 to head westbound on Fruitville Road. The driver didn’t negotiate the left turn and the trailer overturned onto the north shoulder.
The driver also was not wearing a seatbelt, according to FHP.
