Pharmacist robbed at gunpoint, suspect made her put drugs in his bag, sheriff says

A pharmacist was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday and forced to place prescription drugs into a bag.

Around 2:25 a.m. Wednesday, a man robbed a Walgreens pharmacist on U.S. Highway 98 in Lakeland, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

The man jumped over the counter and, at gunpoint, forced the pharmacist to put several bottles of prescriptions into his backpack, according to the sheriff’s office.

At one point, the man put the gun to the pharmacist’s head and threatened to shoot her if she made noise, according to the sheriff’s office.

The man was wearing a Detroit Red Wings baseball hat, a purple glove on his right hand, a white shirt, a camouflage hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, black and white New Balance shoes, and black-framed glasses.

Earlier that morning, the man went into a different Walgreens store, one on South Florida Avenue in Lakeland, but left without incident.

Officials suspect the same man has committed other drugstore robberies in the county.

Anyone with information about this incident or who can identify this suspect are urged to contact Detective Reveron at 863-298-6947.
