Woman dies in Parrish crash involving semitrailer
A Coral Springs woman died after a crash involving a semitrailer early Tuesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The 27-year-old woman, whose name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification, was driving a Volkswagen GTI westbound on State Road 62 toward the intersection of Country Road 39 where there was a flashing yellow light, the FHP report said.
A 47-year-old Lakeland man driving a semitrailer filled with sand was stopped southbound in the left turn lane on County Road 39 with a flashing red light, the report said. Around 7:45 a.m., the semitrailer attempted to make the left turn into the path of the woman, who attempted to swerve out of the way, according to FHP.
The front of the Volkswagen hit the left side of the semitrailer, the report said. The car rotated counter clockwise and overturned.
The crash remains under investigation.
