Bradenton native Danny Walker to make his PGA Tour season debut. Here’s how to watch
Bradenton native Danny Walker is set to make his PGA Tour season debut Thursday.
The former Lakewood Ranch High golf star and University of Virginia alum is playing in the Sony Open at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Walker’s first-round tee time is at 2 p.m. EST.
A PGA Tour rookie, Walker earned his 2025 tour card after finishing in the Top 30 on the 2024 Korn Ferry’s points list. Walker, who finished No. 28 on the season-long points list, was awarded his tour card in October.
“It’s the culmination of 20 years of work, probably,” Walker said, according to PGATour.com. “It’s been a dream since I was a little kid. I don’t know how else to put it into words beyond that.”
Walker, who moved to Jacksonville, returned to Lakewood Ranch in April to play in the Korn Ferry Tour’s LECOM Suncoast Classic at Lakewood National Golf Club. He finished tied for 20th at that tournament.
Walker’s 2024 season included six top 15 finishes, with a season-best runner up finish at the Pinnacle Bank Championship in August where he posted an opening round 62.
Walker, who turned pro in 2018 after winning three straight team state titles in high school and two-time academic All-American at UVA, has played one PGA Tour event in his career. He missed the cut in the 2020 Bermuda Championship after Monday qualifying.
This year, though, he has his tour card. ESPN+ has coverage starting at noon with The Golf Channel airing the first round beginning at 7 p.m. EST.
