Buchanan does care, deserves re-election

Mr. Frazier, your May 14 letter to the editor contained a few grievous errors. I’m going to use your letter to point out your mistakes.

Our own congressional representative, Vern Buchanan, (you are correct, he is). Buchanan, just voted to kick 24… (error — AHA does not kick 24 million off their health insurance). He then joined in the celebration at the White House (again, you are correct).

Buchanan, voted to remove the requirement that health insurance cover for Americans with pre-existing conditions (error — AHA does not eliminate those with pre-existing conditions). He voted to end requirements that health insurance cover basic needs... (error — AHA does not end requirements for basic health insurance). He voted to allow insurance companies to charge older, sicker Americans… (error — our older Americans are already covered by Medicare).

Buchanan voted to cut $900 billion from Medicaid and drastically reduce subsidies… (partial error - the AHA does cut $900 billion in unnecessary expenses forced on the public by Obamacare). He voted to create “high-risk pools” for those with chronic illnesses… (error — insurance companies are rapidly backing out of states – so a high-risk pool offers something to replace the very thing Obamacare destroyed). But he did one good thing… (error - the tax breaks affect more that the top 1 percent).

What will be next? Will it be the repeal of Medicare and Social Security? (error — if anything he will participate in correcting the funding shortfalls in both). Buchanan obviously does not care … (error — he does care). He cares only for his wealthy donors… (error — I am an average American who supports him).

It is time to show Buchanan… (error — it is obvious he cares and is striving to do what is right; not create another Venezuela as you desire, so he deserves reelection).
