No, you’re not drunk. Two camels were at the beach on Key Biscayne
You see a lot of strange things in South Florida.
Roving gangs of peacocks, pet chickens and large iguanas strolling through Lincoln Road are classic sightings.
But what about camels on the beach?
Two of the animals were spotted chilling on Key Biscayne, only a few steps away from the water.
No, it’s not a hallucination.
A video of the strange sight was shared on OnlyInDade’s Instagram late last week. The popular Miami-Dade-based humor account says it was recorded in Key Biscayne.
While it didn’t happen on Hump Day (talk about a missed opportunity) it doesn’t look like the camels were stolen from the Three Kings.
The camels were part of a Macy’s 2020 photo shoot at Crandon Park Beach by Crawford & Co. Productions, a Los Angeles-based company, according to Miami-Dade’s Office of Film and Entertainment.
While the Redland’s Tony the Camel was mentioned in the comments for its events and shoots availability, it wasn’t one of the stars. The camels came from Livestock For Reel in Davie, which specializes in western props and antiques and animal rentals.
The camel duo also has people talking on social media about all the wild animals South Florida has seen in the past week.
We had a kangaroo hopping around the Redland, a pack of monkeys crossing the road, and an opossum doing a balancing act as it walked above a red light.
The sightings have some Instagram users wondering why “Floridians can’t be normal for once” while others are trying to figure out the reason for the back-to-back “Spotted in Dade” videos.
Some say it’s just a usual day in South Florida — but at least one commentator has an interesting theory:
“Yeah someone is def playing Jumanji,” the Instagram user wrote.
If that’s the case, it’s only a matter of time before we’ll find the Rock giving someone his Dr. Bravestone smolder on Valentines Day.
