Man facing child porn charges killed in jail, AR cops say. 5 inmates arrested
A man facing child porn charges was killed in an Arkansas jail, and now five inmates are accused of murder, police say.
Terry Craig, 44, was booked into the Monroe County Detention Center after noon on Friday, Aug. 8, on charges of possession of child sexual abuse materials, and possession of a firearm by certain persons, Arkansas State Police said in a news release.
Later that day, jail staff found Craig injured inside his cell, according to police. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 10 p.m., police said.
Four days later, on Aug. 12, officials announced five inmates have been arrested, and all are charged with murder, battery and engaging in violent criminal group activity, investigators said in a news release. .
The members of the group range in age from 18 to 38, police said, and each is jailed on $3 million bond.
Officials have not shared a cause of death for Craig but say an investigation is ongoing.
Monroe County is a roughly 90-mile drive east from Little Rock.
