Zaxbys debuts ‘giant’ new menu item for the first time. Here’s what to know
Zaxbys newest menu item is a first for the fried chicken chain.
Giant quesadillas arrived Monday, April 28, at participating Zaxbys restaurants nationwide, but they won’t stick around, according to the Atlanta-based fast-food chain.
It’s Zaxbys twist on the classic entree, made with a trio of fried chicken “fingerz” and cheddar jack cheese folded into a warm flour tortilla, according to a restaurant news release. Customers can pick from two varieties:
- Chicken bacon ranch quesadilla: three breaded chicken strips, cheddar jack cheese, bacon and ranch in a flour tortilla.
- Chicken fajita quesadilla: three breaded chicken strips, cheddar jack cheese, grilled onions and peppers, and Southwest ranch in a flour tortilla.
Both come with a side of ranch and a small drink, Zaxbys said.
It’s the first time quesadillas have appeared on menus nationwide after being tested in Charlotte, North Carolina, a Zaxbys spokesperson told McClatchy News.
Customers have until July 6 before they leave menus.
“At Zaxbys, we’re always looking for new ways to bring the sauce through bold innovations to our menu that keep up with our Zax fans’ evolving tastes,” Patrick Schwing, chief marketing officer for Zaxbys, said in the release.
The restaurant isn’t a stranger to putting its spin on popular foods. It previously offered chicken finger tacos and brought back its chicken Philly sandwiches for a limited time.
For about $10.83, customers can get a giant quesadilla and drink combo, or order it as a standalone item for $8.83, the restaurant said.
