Taco Bell brings back fan favorite after ‘nonstop demand.’ What to know
A Taco Bell fan favorite is making a comeback — and could be here to stay.
Crispy chicken nuggets will rejoin menus Thursday, April 24, months after selling out last year due to “nonstop demand,” according to the California-based fast-food chain.
The finger food, made with a tortilla-crumb breading, will appear alongside other favorites, as Taco Bell plans to make crispy chicken part of the permanent menu by 2026.
“Followed by a menu pipeline of chicken-led innovation, the nugget’s return is the start of Taco Bell’s journey to become a go-to destination for crispy chicken,” the restaurant said in an April 17 news release.
A brand spokesperson clarified that the restaurant will continue testing “crispy chicken creations” throughout the year to determine which will stick around for good.
Taco Bell has had other chicken offerings in the past including cheesy street chalupas and the cantina chicken menu.
The crispy nuggets were first tested in Minneapolis in 2023 and Houston, Texas, in early 2024, before a nationwide rollout in December, McClatchy News reported. Customer demand was “overwhelming,” and they sold out in less than a week, Taco Bell said.
After trying 50-plus recipes and flavor combinations, the restaurant said it perfected the nugget’s unique tortilla chip breading. And what are chicken nuggets without dipping sauce?
Customers can pick from three:
- Hidden Valley fire ranch sauce
- Tangy Bell sauce
- Jalapeno honey mustard
“We know we’re not the usual name in crispy chicken, but our nuggets speak for themselves,” Taylor Montgomery, chief marketing officer for Taco Bell said in the release.
For $3.99, customers can get a five-count nugget and a dipping sauce, or a 10-count nugget with two dipping sauces for $6.99, according to the release.
The crispy nuggets will also be available as a combo that includes an order of nacho fries, nacho cheese sauce and a large drink.
