Dad accosted while walking with child stabs man to death, California police say

A father walking with his child fatally stabbed a man accused of accosting them, California police say.

Officers responded to reports of unknown trouble in Beverly Hills at 2:51 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, police said in a news release.

An investigation showed a man confronted a father walking with his child on a sidewalk, police said.

Sommer Janssen, a witness, told KABC a father and mother were walking with their young daughter when a man tried to grab the girl and the dad tried to fight him off.

During the altercation, the father stabbed the accused attacker, who died at a hospital, police said. The dad also was injured in the fight.

Initial police reports on the incident were unclear on which of the two men had died, KTLA reported.

An investigation into the incident continues. Police ask anyone with information to call 310-285-2125.

Beverly Hills is about a 10-mile drive west from downtown Los Angeles.
