‘Random urge’ and $5 lead to big Maryland lottery win. ‘Filled with excitement’
When a Maryland woman had a “random urge,” she listened — and it paid off.
With $5 in hand, the Montgomery County woman followed her urge to buy a lottery ticket and picked up an instant ticket at a Silver Spring market, Maryland Lottery officials said in a June 21 news release.
The woman wasted no time; she scratched THE BIG SPIN ticket in the store and showed it to the clerk, officials said.
Though the ticket was a winner, the store clerk told the woman she would have to pick up her prize at lottery headquarters “because of its size,” according to officials.
The woman won the game’s top prize of $50,000, a win that left her “shocked” and “happy.”
“The winner said she is filled with excitement and hasn’t made any plans yet for enjoying her windfall,” lottery officials said.
Silver Spring is about a 60-mile drive southwest from Baltimore.
