15-year-old girl from Bradenton hit by car and seriously injured, Florida troopers say
A 15-year-old girl from Bradenton was hit by a car and seriously injured on Lockwood Ridge Road on Monday evening, Florida Highway Patrol said.
It happened at about 3:45 p.m. near 55th Avenue Drive East.
A Sarasota man driving a sedan was heading north on Lockwood Ridge, north of 55th Avenue, and slowed as he approached stopped traffic.
The girl was standing on the east sidewalk north of 55th and stepped into the road in front of the sedan, Highway Patrol said.
She was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
The crash is under investigation.
In a separate incident, FHP reported Monday that a 71-year-old woman who was hit by a garbage truck Jan. 17 while crossing a condo parking lot had died at the hospital.
