Hit-and-run crash kills bicyclist on Moccasin Wallow Road, Florida troopers say

A 43-year-old Palmetto man is dead after a hit-and-run crash Sunday evening.

At 8:35 p.m., the Palmetto man was riding a bicycle headed east along Moccasin Wallow Road, just east of Bud Rhoden Road when the unknown vehicle approached him from behind, according a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The vehicle hit the man, sending him flying off of the bicycle. He was thrown onto the grassy shoulder along the south side of the road. He died at the scene.

The driver of the unknown vehicle drove away from the crash in “possibly a black in color passenger car with front damage.”
