Bradenton man knocked unconscious by witnesses when he tries to rob Walgreens of Oxycodone
BRADENTON -- Bradenton police have released the name of the man investigators say tried to rob a Bradenton Walgreens pharmacy but instead was knocked out and detained by witnesses until officers arrived.
Anthony Robert Nemeth, 26, of Bradenton, is charged with attempted armed robbery. He is being held at the Manatee County jail on a $15,000 bond.
At 12:24 p.m. Sunday, Nemeth entered the Walgreens Pharmacy at 5896 Cortez Road, wearing a hooded sweater and a white towel over his face, jumped on the counter, said he had a firearm and demanded the pharmacist give him all of the Oxycodone pills. Witnesses, however, were able to subdue Nemeth and during the struggle, he was knocked unconscious, police said.
He was detained until police arrived. He was taken to Blake Medical Center to be treated and then transported to the Manatee County jail.
