Sarasota police say video shows car in fatal hit-and-run crash

SARASOTA -- Sarasota police released video Monday that investigators say shows a vehicle that struck and killed a bicyclist last week.

The video was taken on the night of the hit-and-run crash by a red-light camera from the intersection of North Washington Boulevard and Fruitville Road, police said.

On Jan. 31, police say the driver of the car, believed to be a silver or gray 4-door 2014-16 Toyota Corolla LE, struck and killed bicyclist Skyler Sandifar, 25, of Ocala, in the northbound lanes of North Washington Boulevard, between Sixth and Eighth streets.

Police said the car, highlighted on the video with a red circle, has damage to the right fender and right headlight.

According to witnesses, the car was traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit the bicyclist.
