SARASOTA -- Sarasota police are looking for the hit-and-run driver who killed a bicyclist Sunday evening.

About 7:15 p.m., the vehicle, described as a dark-colored Toyota with front-end damage, hit the bicyclist from behind on the northbound lanes North Washington Boulevard (U.S. 301), between Sixth and Eighth streets.

Washington Boulevard between Sixth and Eighth streets was closed for about two hours as police investigated.

The bicyclist, a male, was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where he later died, police said about 9:15 p.m.

Anyone with information about the crash or may have witnessed anything can call Sarasota police at 941-316-1199.
