Sarasota police identify bicyclist killed in hit-and-run crash; release description of suspect's vehicle

SARASOTA -- The Sarasota Police Department on Monday released the name of a man who was killed in a hit-and-run crash Sunday night and officers are asking for the public's help in locating the suspect's vehicle.

Skyler Duane Sandifar, 28, of Ocala, was riding his bicycle between Sixth Street and Eighth Street along North Washington Boulevard in the northbound lanes at 7:15 p.m. when a driver hit the back of the bicycle, according to a release. The driver fled the area and Sandifar was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The suspect vehicle is a four-door 2014-2016 Toyota Corolla LE, police said. The right front fender by the tire is missing a large piece, police said.

Anyone with information on this crash or may have witnessed anything is asked to call the Sarasota Police Department at 941-316-1199.
