Manatee deputies target Fourth of July DUI drivers. How many were arrested?

A dozen drivers were arrested during a DUI saturation patrol in Manatee County ahead of the Fourth of July weekend, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said its Traffic Unit conducted the enforcement operation on Friday as part of an ongoing effort targeting impaired and unsafe drivers.

Deputies arrested six drivers on DUI charges and another six on misdemeanor traffic offenses during the operation, according to the sheriff’s office.

In addition to the arrests, deputies issued one criminal traffic summons, 52 civil traffic citations and 36 warnings.

The sheriff’s office regularly conducts DUI saturation patrols throughout the county. During the agency’s previous saturation patrol, deputies arrested five drivers for DUI, tested one additional driver, issued one criminal traffic summons, 41 traffic citations and 13 written warnings.
