Bradenton police arrest teen in shooting death of Manatee High senior
Bradenton police have arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of a teenager who was found dead on Monday, the agency said in a news release.
Santana Davis, 16, has been arrested on a charge of manslaughter with a firearm, the department said.
At 10:15 p.m. on Monday, police say they responded to a 911 call in the 700 block of 12th Avenue West, where they found a teenager dead outside the home.
The teenager has been identified with the family’s permission as Demetrius Lightfoot Jr., 17, a senior at Manatee High School, according to police.
“The circumstances surrounding Lightfoot’s death and Davis’s alleged role remain under investigation,” the department said.
According to the police department, the School District of Manatee County has been notified of the incident and has resources available to assist students affected by the death of Lightfoot. Resources include crisis counselors.
