Bradenton man charged with murder in shooting at party, deputies say
A Bradenton man is the third person arrested in connection with a fatal shooting at a Sarasota park last year, deputies said.
Deputies arrested 18-year-old Jonathan Vivar on Friday and charged him with murder in the Nov. 3 shooting of a 17-year-old boy.
The shooting happened during an “after-hours” party at Twin Lakes Park, a recreation center in Sarasota, according to a news release.
Vivar’s arrest is the latest in a months-long investigation into the shooting, according to detectives.
Two Manatee County residents previously arrested
Deputies previously arrested two others in connection with the case.
On Jan. 23, Sarasota and Manatee County deputies took a Bradenton teenager into custody, detectives said. The sheriff’s office has not released his name but said he faces charges including aggravated battery and armed trespass.
On Feb. 6, deputies arrested Carlos Romero-Tomas, 19, of Palmetto. He is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm in public and giving false information about a crime, the Bradenton Herald previously reported.
Vivar is being held at the Sarasota County Correctional Facility without bond and is charged with second-degree murder, according to the sheriff’s office website.
The investigation remains ongoing, deputies said.
