Bradenton police charge two with murder in fatal shooting at park on the Riverwalk

Bradenton police have arrested two people after a shooting left one man dead and two others injured Sunday at Rossi Park on the Riverwalk.

Police say Frederick Kelly, 18, and a 17-year-old face charges for the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Wilfredo Allende.

Kelly is charged with second-degree murder with a firearm. The 17-year-old is charged with second-degree murder with a firearm and aggravated battery with a firearm, according to a news release.

The Bradenton Herald does not name juvenile suspects.

Officers say they responded to a 911 call about gunfire at Rossi Park, 444 Third Ave. W., Bradenton, at 4:07 a.m. Sunday.

When officers got to the park, they found three people with gunshot wounds, the Bradenton Herald previously reported.

Police say one of the men, who they later identified as Allende, died from his gunshot wounds. Investigators said someone also shot the 17-year-old in self-defense. A third victim is hospitalized in stable condition, according to a news release.

Police say their investigation is ongoing, and detectives with the Manatee County’s homicide unit are interviewing witnesses.
