One of two suspects in Bradenton murder case is back in local custody

He was described as an, “awesome employee and a great guy,” when the Bradenton Police Department first began the hunt for whoever killed 30-year-old Michael Briles in his home on October 17 of last year.

The case against one of Briles’ two accused killers can now proceed after he was extradited from Michigan back to Manatee County.

Tyler Sager,22, and DeVante Kinsley were arrested in June in Bay City, Mich., by Bay City authorities and Bradenton police detectives. Sager is back in local custody while Kinsley is still waiting to be extradited.

Briles was shot and killed inside his home in the 2400 block of 11th Street West about 10 p.m. on the night of Oct. 17. He had just arrived home from his second job at Five Star Pizza.

Video surveillance showed one of the suspects drive up to the home, and run out about a minute after gaining entry. Within a minute police dispatchers began receiving calls from neighbors who heard gunshots.

Police responded and found Briles already dead.

Sager was booked into the Manatee County jail on a murder charge. He is being held without bond.
