Manatee deputies arrest 24-year-old man. Cops say he shot and killed his uncle
A 24-year-old man is under arrest after deputies say he shot and killed his uncle at a homeless camp in Bradenton.
According to a release from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, David Laycock was located early Monday morning and arrested on a second-degree murder charge.
The sheriff’s office first responded to reports of a shooting at the homeless camp in a wooded area in the 1700 block of 57th Avenue East early Saturday morning. First responders on the scene confirmed that 52-year-old Robert Laycock, David’s uncle, died from a single gunshot wound to the head.
A 911 caller said David Laycock fled the scene on foot after realizing that his uncle had been killed.
In the past year, David Laycock had been arrested on charges of domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment and multiple counts of aggravated assault.
According to a release, deputies obtained a warrant for David’s arrest Saturday.
