Bradenton teenager in custody after a fatal shooting. He was already wanted by the law, cops say

Nathaniel Garza, 15, was taken into custody early Saturday morning in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred Friday in the 5900 block of 13th Street Court East.

An 18-year-old was shot in the head and later died at Blake Medical Center.

The sheriff’s office still has not released the name of the victim.

According to the sheriff’s office, “Charges are pending for the shooting,” but Garza was taken into custody for existing arrest warrants for absconding on a burglary and grand theft.

The shooting took place around 2:30 a.m. on Friday morning as Garza and the victim were sitting in a vehicle outside the residence listening to music. A witness reported that Garza pulled out the firearm “and began playing with it,” according to the sheriff’s office.

The gun went off and struck the victim in the head. Garza ran away from the area. The victim died around 11 a.m. Friday at the hospital.
