Manatee High student died in car crash 10 months ago. FHP arrests man who killed her

A 24-year-old Bradenton man has been charged with vehicular homicide more than 10 months after he ran a red light, killing an 18-year-old and injuring several passengers.

While he was fleeing the scene of an earlier traffic crash on the night of Feb. 9, Adonis Waters killed Victoria Mobley when he ignored a traffic signal while heading westbound on 26th Avenue East toward 27th Street East, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Mobley was only three months away from graduating from Manatee High School. The school honored Mobley during the graduation ceremony in May, and awarded her with a posthumous degree.

A 17-year-old female and a 13-year-old male were also in Waters’ vehicle. An 18-year-old woman was in Mobley’s vehicle, as well. According to a crash report, nobody involved in the accident was wearing a seat belt, and each of them suffered injuries.

Troopers say Waters was arrested Friday and charged with vehicular homicide. He was also cited for not wearing a seat belt and not making sure that minors in his vehicle at the time of the crash were wearing seat belts.
